O&M engineering

control risk, reduce cost

Knowledge mitigates risk, which is directly translated into cost reduction. Nabla is specialized on optimising O&M, by its adaptation from a reactive scheme to a site-contidion based preventive scheme, fed by high accuracy preventive inputs.

For O&M contracts renegotiation under the best win-win conditions, or for O&M bidding, nabla inputs bring the key elements.

A result of our analyses (full or exploratory) is detailed under a FMECA - Failure Modes, Effects and Criticality Analysis per component, that needs to be addressed in the Life Extension Plan. Such FMECA will consists of:

  • Failure Modes identification
  • Effects on the structure
  • Criticality:
    • Containment Actions
    • Corrective Actions
    • Preventive Actions
  • Analysis of existing Maintenance Protocols
  • Completion of the Long Term Maintenance Protocols with the FMECA Maintenance Recommendations

Based on the modeling of the causes and Life Detection results, several Life Extension (Damage Mitigation) strategies can be analyzed in order to protect the assets from:

  • Non-controlled Extreme Loads
  • Non-controlled Life Consumption Regimes

Whenever it is indicated (e.g. extreme Loads found, extreme blade deflections towards the tower, uncontrolled Fatigue Life consumption), this analysis can be launched in order to provide the Asset Operation Strategies which need to be implemented in order to Mitigate Damage and achieve full Life Extension. These Life Extension Strategies can include:

  • Selective WSM
  • Advanced WSM

In addition, and depending on the causes identified, other Damage Mitigation strategies can include:

  • Modification of Controller Settings
  • Modification of Aerodynamic properties

Once these active risks are addressed, then a proper Life Extension Plan is ready to be deployed, through nabla\'s Ageing Management Plans and O&M protocols (through FEMs)
